A play area is being cleaned up by a council after an unauthorised Traveller encampment left the site. A large number of caravans pulled up on Collis Close play area, land owned by Nottinghamshire County Council, over the weekend. The encampment has now (April 17) left the site, off Beacon Hill, and Newark and Sherwood District Council’s teams are asking members of the public to remain off the park this morning while it is cleaned up.

A woman will run the final few miles of the London Marathon in her bridal dress in memory of her late husband on what would have been their wedding anniversary. Laura Coleman-Day, of Witham St Hughes, has spent the past year running marathons in a mammoth fundraising challenge for Anthony Nolan, a charity which secured a stem cell transplant for her late husband Xander Coleman-Day after his acute lymphoblastic leukaemia diagnosis in 2022.
