Residents have continued to benefit from a major flood alleviation scheme, with work underway to protect listed homes from flooding. An application has been submitted for a home in Easthorpe, Southwell, for floodgate barriers at its doors which can be deployed during a flood event. The plans have been made by Nottinghamshire County Council, who will also undertake the works with no cost to the homeowner, as part of its capital Southwell Flood Alleviation scheme.

Three out of four people on trial have pleaded guilty to failing to meet the emotional and physical needs of dogs in their care at a breeding business. Four dog breeding business directors have, for the past four days, been on trial for causing unnecessary suffering to dogs at Little Rascals, also known as Puppies at Home, at The Dairies farm, Brant Broughton.

Two people have been arrested after a spate of break-ins and till thefts. Nottinghamshire Police recently received reports of a number of break-ins at businesses in Bingham and Radcliffe on Trent, and reports of cash being stolen from tills while victims were distracted. Officers from the Rushcliffe South Police team made two arrests in connection with the offences on June 3. One male suspect remains in police custody while investigations continue.

The Heritage Open Days festival runs across the country from September 12 to 21, and this year the theme is architecture.

Plans for a shotblasting and paint spraying facility have been welcomed by council to create skilled employment opportunities. Newark Town Council considered an application by Ultimation Direct for the facility, proposed to be built on a small yard off Trent Lane. It would include the construction of two metal-clad buildings, on what is currently a service yard to an existing neighbouring building.
