GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The first Friday of June means National Donut Day. It’s not just a sweet reason to celebrate, it actually has a historical connection to the Salvation Army. All Uncle Mike’s Bake Shoppe locations are giving out a free donut from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. -- and this donut comes with a history lesson. It’s made with the original World War I recipe used by women sent by the Salvation Army to the front lines to provide treats to the men who were serving our country.

Right now, the parking lot has 31 vehicles parked with 55 people sleeping.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Brown County Public Health says it helped 47 families reduce lead levels in their home last year. Of those 47, three prompted lead hazard investigations when they were tested again 90 days later and still showed high lead levels. The county then worked with the families to go over exposure risks, cleaning to help prevent exposure, and nutrition to reduce lead absorption. After that was done, 92% of families say they saw a reduction in blood lead levels.
