LEHI, Utah — Friday was the funeral for the 8-year-old Lehi boy who accidentally shot and killed himself at a gas station last week. "We can't make sense of it right now. It's sudden and my brother was having lunch with his son the day prior," said Ramiro Rosales, the boy's uncle. The family has identified the boy as 8-year-old Sergeant "Sargy" Rosales. According to the Lehi Police Department, he fatally shot himself alone in a vehicle while a parent was inside the gas station.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah's biggest counties have a little over a month left to scramble to secure the beds and services to help those experiencing homelessness before it gets too cold. "What we're proposing today is to fund what we know can happen," said Wayne Niederhauser, the state homeless coordinator. The Utah Homeless Services Board met virtually Wednesday to vote on the funding for Salt Lake, Utah, Washington, Davis, and Weber counties' Winter Response Plan.

SALT LAKE CITY — The candidates wanting to win Utahns vote for governor took the stage at Salt Lake Community College Wednesday night in debate. Republican incumbent Gov. Spencer Cox, Democratic Party nominee state Rep. Brian King, and Libertarian candidate J. Robert Latham argued over a variety of issues including housing, power, education, transportation, and many others. Two particular topics got candidates riled up and attacking one another.

It's been over four years since the start of the pandemic, and the grief is still prominent in many people's hearts. The Utah Valley Interfaith Association and Provo Community Congregational United Church of Christ hosted a Vigil of Remembrance Monday night for those lost during the pandemic.
