MERIDIAN — Dozens of parents, students and teachers came to the West Ada School Board meeting on Monday night, waiting their turn to speak to the board of trustees about the district's current policies, particularly on posters teachers can hang in their classrooms. The sizable turnout was in response to an incident that took place in February and has been a point of contention in the weeks since.

Last week, Boise School District held a meeting for parents at Valley View Elementary to go over the findings of an independent investigation about child abuse committed by a former special education paraprofessional at the elementary school. The paraprofessional, 22-year-old Gavin Snow, was involved in several instances of child abuse and inappropriate behavior in a sensory room and bathroom with multiple students at Valley View Elementary, the investigation found.

MERIDIAN — A new program in Idaho is working to decrease the nursing shortage, one graduating class at a time. Grand Canyon University, a private Christian university based in Phoenix, showcased its new "accelerated" Bachelor of Science in nursing program site in Meridian on Tuesday during an open house. The program is 16 months long — each semester lasts 15 weeks.
