    A Roanoke woman whose nursing license was suspended almost two years ago because she was intoxicated on the job is now facing several felony drug possession charges. Megan Elizabeth Nash received her nursing license in 2016. But the Virginia Board of Nursing indefinitely suspended her license in March 2023 after it found that she had been using drugs, including fentanyl, while working as a nurse in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital‘s intensive care unit.

    Franklin County first responder agencies are asking residents and visitors to stay away from a growing fire in the Callaway area. The county sheriff's office said in a Facebook post Wednesday afternoon that a large fire had been reported near the intersection of Wades Gap Road and Webster Corner Road.

    A Troutville man who was arrested in Mexico last spring and extradited back to Botetourt County on child sexual battery charges was sentenced earlier this month to two and half years of incarceration. Michael Dennis Hightower Jr., 41, was indicted in October 2023 on four counts of aggravated sexual battery of a minor with offense dates in October 2021, January 2022, July 2022 and January 2023.
