    Community November 22, 2024, 7:52 PM HST * Updated November 22, 7:53 PM Both lanes of a portion of Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway (Highway 19), north of Kona airport, are closed due to a traffic incident. The closure is near the 84 mile marker on the highway, the Hawaii Police Department said in an announcement sent out at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. The department says motorists can use Kaiminani Drive to Highway 190 (upper road) and Waikoloa Road to travel between Waimea/Waikoloa and Kona.

The State Legislature and Gov. Josh Green authorized funding for the invasive species control project through the Biosecurity Act 231.
