MANILA, Philippines — Eighty-four drivers and two conductors of public utility vehicles tested positive for illegal drug use during the Holy Week. The 86 were among 3,270 PUV drivers and operators subjected to surprise drug screening since April 16 under Oplan Harabas of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. The PDEA said 37 of those who tested positive were tricycle drivers, followed by 19 jeepney drivers, 14 bus drivers, 11 UV Express van drivers, two motorcycle riders and a taxi driver.

MANILA, Philippines — Victims of the previous administration’s war against illegal drugs will oppose any move to temporarily release former president Rodrigo Duterte while the proceedings against him are ongoing before the International Criminal Court (ICC). In an interview Tuesday with The STAR’s online show “Truth on the Line,” ICC assistant to counsel Kristina Conti expressed belief that the international tribunal will not grant any request for the “interim release” of the former president.
