(WSPA) – Leaders in Anderson are scheduled to make a final vote on the county’s budget of more than $331 million, Tuesday night. One of the items, included in the budget, is for more officers at the new detention center. The Anderson County Detention Center, on David Lee Coffee Place, is overcrowded.

MAULDIN, S.C. (WSPA) – The Mauldin Police Department is warning residents against recent sightings of black bears in the area. Officers said being attacked by one is rare, but it’s still good to know what to do if you spot one. Within the past couple of days, the Mauldin Police Department has gotten reports of people seeing black bears, including this one that was seen in the Knollwood area. “There have been sightings of people obviously concerned,” said Lt. James Madden.

CLEMSON, S.C. (WSPA) – The City of Clemson said many lessons were learned during Hurricane Helene. Now they’re making sure everyone knows about a program leaders said can save you thousands. It’s called “Down Under Electric.”“The partnership started in 2022, and since then, we’ve had over 150 applications,” said Allison Gantte, Clemson Deputy City Administrator. Adam Jones, one of the participants in the program, said he lost power for nine days during Helene.
