CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Some smoke and haze fill the skies over the Carolinas today as smoke from the wildfires in Canada pushes into the US and all they way into our area. This will give us filtered sunshine for much of the day. Otherwise, there is to be a better thunderstorm chance later today than what we had yesterday including around Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The first day of summer is not until June 20, but the WBTV team is already looking ahead to what the weather could look like. In short, much of the country is expecting above-average temperatures -- including the Carolinas. More precipitation than usual is also in the forecast. On this most recent episode of “The First Alert,” WBTV meteorologists Al Conklin and Eric Garlick will look at why those temperatures could be warmer and why more rainfall is possible.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Sunday, a developing warm front lifting north will probably trigger a couple of showers and even a few thunderstorms. A batch of rain and a few thunderstorms will be possible overnight into early Monday morning. A few thunderstorms will also be possible on Monday so there could be some rain around at the back end of the holiday weekend. Highs Sunday and Monday will warm in the mid 70°s with noticeably higher humidity.
