COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A central Ohio priest was in the crowd of thousands in St. Peter’s Square as Pope Leo XIV was introduced to the world. “It was probably about an hour wait after the smoke for them to come out. And it was just awesome. It was awesome to see,” said Father Adam Streitenberger, Chaplain and Executive Director at the St. Thomas More Newman Center, home of Buckeye Catholic. Streitenberger has been in Rome since December, working on his doctorate.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A central Ohio priest was in Rome for the last several months of Pope Francis’ life and is still there as the papal conclave takes place. “I consider myself very blessed to be here during this time, and to be able to see him,” said Fr. Adam Streitenberger, chaplain and executive director of the St. Thomas More Newman Center. He has been in Rome this semester working on his doctorate. He arrived in mid-December.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — As federal enforcement of REAL IDs gets closer, Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) offices have been busier. Federal enforcement begins on Wednesday, May 7, and there were multiple times on when the Kenny Road BMV location in Columbus seemed busy inside and people were choosing to wait outside. “I didn’t even want to go inside,” customer Aaron Nesbitt said.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A Columbus boy is back home after spending more than a month in the hospital due to severe injuries from an attack by two dogs. “He’s blown us away at every corner, and it’s been really fun to see his spunk and personality and stubbornness all come back very quickly,” said Rachel Koon, Oscar Koon’s mom. Nine-year-old Oscar is like many kids his age. He’s a fan of the local sports teams and likes playing video games with his friends. Lately, he’s enjoyed doing that from home.

LANCASTER, Ohio (WCMH) — A day after Tuesday’s strong storms hit central Ohio, many in the region were still dealing with the effects of the weather. A tarp is now covering the damaged area on the second story of a Lancaster home. A tree fell on it during the storm. “A tree fell on my house — there’s really nothing I can do about it and I was kind of glad I wasn’t here to hear that,” Jo Welsh said. She was not home when the tree was knocked onto her house.

Knox County butcher promises to rebuild better after fire

“Was my wife and my office, and then the rest of it, the front there was our retail,” Mike Jessee, owner of Dee Jay’s Custom Butchering, said as he pointed at what’s left of the business. For almost 32 years, the building and business have been Jessee and his family’s livelihood. The butcher shop opened in Fredericktown in 1978. The Jessees have owned it since 1993. The fire happened Saturday. Jessee showed NBC4 around on Monday morning.
