Friday morning is off to a partly to mostly cloudy start, with rain showers moving across eastern New Mexico and the far northern mountains. Moisture will continue streaming into the state today, with scattered showers and storms in eastern New Mexico all day. Isolated storms will develop in northwest NM and southwest CO this afternoon, moving east through the overnight hours. These storms may become severe, with damaging wind and hail as the main threats.

Two flash flood warnings are in effect Thursday morning. One is over the Hermit's Peak Calf Canyon burn scar, and another over the northeastern Jemez, north of Los Alamos to Abiquiu and Espanola. These will be in effect until 8 AM and 8:45 AM, respectively. More showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout Thursday. Scattered showers and storms will move through eastern and northwest NM, with a chance for severe storms in the Four Corners.

Wednesday will be another hot day for most of the state, but a cold front will move in from the east today through tomorrow. The cold front will shift winds in from the southeast, which will cause a change in fire behavior for the wildfires burning in the Ruidoso area, pushing blazes and spotting to the northwest. The winds will draw more abundant moisture into the state, which will increase rain chances today.
