This may seem like an obvious answer but there is actually no penalty if you lie to police about the matter. A new law would attach penalties of up to $6,000 fine and/or a year in jail if you do not inform police officials of a concealed weapon when asked. In 2022 the State of Alabama passed a law making it legal to conceal and carry a weapon on you person or vehicle, over opposition from the Alabama Sheriffs Association.

While work has already begun on a 10-foot sidewalk on the west end of Canal Road and some sidewalks have already poured, the city also has plans to put the sidewalks along Commercial Avenue. On Feb. 4, the city council will consider a contract with Thompson Engineering to provide construction inspections and administration services for $54,542 for work along the north side of Canal Road along Commercial Avenue.
