The Chamberlain City Commission recently denied the Hartford resident a conditional use permit after a series of public meetings saw his proposed 177-lot long term campground receive pushback from community members citing issues ranging from drainage and sewer connections to traffic concerns.

MITCHELL — Mitchell Technical College announced Thursday that Theresa Kriese has verbally accepted the position of president for the two-year technical college, pending formal approval by the Mitchell Board of Education. Upon receiving approval from the board, Kriese would become the sixth president of the institution since opening in 1968. Kriese has been serving as the interim president of Mitchell Technical College since December, when previous president Mark Wilson announced his resignation.

MITCHELL — A group of art students from Mitchell High School recently brought home the highest finish ever for a Mitchell team at the state Art Wars competition in Aberdeen. The competition took place Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12 in Aberdeen, featuring around 380 pieces of art across numerous categories created by students from high schools around the state.

MITCHELL — The Mitchell Board of Education Monday night approved policy changes for the Mitchell Middle School handbook, particularly the sections on the use of electronic devices during the school day attendance. The board approved the policy changes during its regular meeting at the Mitchell Career and Technical Education Academy. Members of the board discussed both the electronic devices and attendance portion of the policy changes before taking their vote.
