TRILLA, Ill. (WCIA) — Nearly a month after a plane crash killed four in Trilla, more information on the tragedy has been released, including a witness’ report of what happened. The National Transportation Safety Board has released a preliminary report on the fatal April 19 plane crash. At 10:16 a.m. that day, a Cessna 180G, N4679U airplane crashed and killed a private pilot along with three passengers between Coles and Cumberland counties.

Springfield resident arrested on drug charges in Indiana

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — A person from Springfield was arrested just over the state line in Indiana on three drug charges Friday evening. On May 9 just after 6 p.m., Indiana State Police Trooper Grundell was patrolling Interstate 74 near mile marker eight in Fountain County when he conducted a traffic stop on a 2011 Buick for a speeding violation. While speaking to the driver, 41-year-old Shanna McCrary of Springfield, Grundell detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — A boil order is affecting 64 people where a water main was repaired in a Springfield neighborhood, and it’s expected to last through the weekend. According to City Water, Light and Power, people affected by this boil order will receive door-to-door notice, including those on Star Avenue, Mars Avenue and Neptune Avenue, which are all parts of Skyline Heights in Springfield. Per regulations, the water main was flushed, and multiple water samples were taken.
