Bill Brown took over in 2024 after former CEO Michael Roman stepped down. 3M Co. CEO Bill Brown was paid more than $21 million in 2024, his first year at the helm of the Maplewood-based public manufacturing company. Almost half of Brown's first-year pay package came in the form of stock awards. His base salary was $1.2 million, according to a regulatory document filed Wednesday. Brown was named CEO of 3M (NYSE: MMM) in May 2024, after the company's former leader Mike Roman stepped down.

Here's how much C.H. Robinson's CEO pay was in 2024, and how much it compares to the median employee salary. C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. CEO Dave Bozeman was paid $8.8 million in 2024, his first full year at the helm of the public Eden Prairie-based logistics company. That's much less than he was paid the year before, but that's mostly because C.H. Robinson (Nasdaq: CHRW) paid him a sign-on bonus in 2023 and compensated him to replace equity he gave up at his previous employer.

Polaris Inc. CEO Mike Speetzen made around $9 million in 2024, a challenging year for the powersports manufacturing companySpeetzen's compensation was a little more than Polaris (NYSE: PII) paid him the previous year, according to a filing from Friday. The top executive of the Medina-based maker of snowmobiles and ATVs received most of his pay package in the form of stock and option awards, the filing said. Speetzen's base salary of $1.2 million in 2024 was about the same as it was the year before.

David Ossip has been with the human capital management software company since 2012. Dayforce Inc. paid its CEO nearly $19 million last year, making its leader one of the highest-paid among Minnesota-based public companies. The Bloomington-based human resources software company paid CEO David Ossip $18.6 million in 2024, according to a regulatory document filed Monday. Ossip's pay last year increased about $5 million from the year before.

Each year, the Business Journal compiles a list of the largest mergers and acquisitions involving Minnesota companies. 2024 was a soft year. Last year won't break any records for mergers and acquisition volume in Minnesota, but 2024 signaled a return to more normal deal activity after a couple of relatively slow years that followed an outsized 2021.
