    In August 2021, I found myself heading toward my first club meeting tucked away in the back of the Plemmons Student Union in a hallway I had no idea existed. At that point in time, I didn’t know what I wanted to do during my time in school and was just looking for something to do. Little did I know, I was taking the first steps toward one of the best decisions I have ever made. Three years later, I’ve had the best seats in the house to some of the best moments in App State history.

    May 2, 2024 App State traveled to Shelby on Tuesday to take on No. 13 Wake Forest. The Mountaineers lost a close game 10-9. The Black and Gold started the game strong with two home runs in the first inning. Graduate student first baseman Drew Holderbach hit his sixth home run of the season, giving the Mountaineers a 2-0 lead. Senior outfielder CJ Boyd followed with his 15th home run of the season to take a 3-0 lead. Boyd is now tied for the second-most career home runs in program history with 32.

    April 30, 2024 Senior outfielder Kayt Houston is a few weeks away from wrapping up a historic App State softball career. Houston has earned numerous awards for her play on the diamond. As a sophomore, Houston was named to the All-Sun Belt first team and received NFCA All-Region honors, becoming the first player in program history to receive this honor. However, Houston is more focused on remaining grateful for the opportunities she has been given.

    April 30, 2024 App State baseball isn’t the most well-known sport on campus; it doesn’t have the illustrious history of the football program or the recent success of the basketball program.  However, senior outfielder CJ Boyd is making the case for the baseball team to garner some well-deserved attention. Boyd began his sports journey playing football, but after suffering a broken collarbone in his first game, his parents decided they didn’t want him to play anymore.

    The Mountaineers traveled to Huntington, West Virginia, to face the Marshall Thundering Herd last weekend. On Friday, the Mountaineers were unable to find their rhythm, losing 7-2. Marshall jumped out to an early lead with a solo shot in the first, further extending it to 6-0 in the third and fourth innings.
