The new Raising Canes is the same spot as the former Cheddars and Stone Eagle Tavern restaurants in Rockford.

    WREX — Jackson Heidemann struck out 14 batters as the hard throwing pitcher led Harlem past Hononegah 4-3 on Monday. Heidemann allowed four hits and three runs over seven innings while walking one. The Huskies didn't take the lead until late in the game. Down 3-2 in the top of the seventh inning, Finn Stovall homered to right field, scoring two runs. Stovall also opened the scoring in the first when he doubled, scoring one.

    WREX — Friday was a day of cheers, hugs and of course, lots of missed scratches for several of man's best friends as 275 soldiers from the 1-178, Infantry and Company B, 766 Brigade Engineer Battalion returned home from their nearly ten month deployment. The deployment sent soldiers to 17 locations across seven countries with most in partner nations of Jordan and Saudi Arabia. A mission that deployed in June of 2024 in support of Operation Spartan Shield.

    WREX — Tuesday marked a big day for Winnebago Senior Brandon Armenta as he signed his letter of intent to play Soccer in College. Armenta played all four years at Winnebago, helping lead the Indians to a Regional Championship this past season, the school's first since 2008. Not only did he help bring a Regional trophy back to Winnebago, Armenta's talents also helped him be named to the Big Northern Conference First Team All-Conference list unanimously.

    WREX — Members of the media from around Illinois voted for their All-State teams, a highly-selective process comprising just ten players in each class, a first team and a second team. The top vote-getter in each class is named the Steve Tappa Player of the Year, named for the man who was the driving force behind both the polls and the All-State teams in recent years after the Associated Press stopped doing them.
