AbstractEssential Tremor (ET) is the most common movement disorder and has a worldwide prevalence of 1%, including 5% of the population over 65 years old. It is characterized by an active, postural or kinetic tremor, primarily affecting the upper limbs, and is diagnosed based on clinical characteristics. The pathological mechanisms of ET, however, are mostly unknown. Moreover, despite its high heritability, genetic studies of ET genetics have yielded mixed results.

AbstractThe optimal timing for initiating dialysis and prognostic markers in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients are under debate, with mortality and cardiovascular risks varying among patients. This study investigates whether the apoptosis inhibitor of macrophage (AIM), which is mostly bound to pentameric IgM, could serve as an effective indicator. We prospectively followed 423 patients at dialysis initiation and 563 at various CKD stages.

A 50-year-old patient with a history of cerebral abscess was referred following the incidental discovery of right heart cavities dilation. A computed tomography scan (see Supplementary data online, Video S1) with 3D reconstruction (Panels A and B) identified a very unusual congenital heart disease combining anomalous systemic and pulmonary venous return. A left superior vena cava (SVC) drained into the coronary sinus, while the right SVC connected to the left atrium.

On the data cut-off date (July 29, 2021), 112 of 156 patients completed screening and 111 patients were enrolled in the dose-confirmation and dose-expansion parts of the study. One patient was not treated due to physician’s decision. The primary reason for treatment discontinuation was disease progression (Supplementary Figure S2). Baseline demographics and disease characteristics are presented in Table 1. Overall, baseline characteristics across the treatment groups were well balanced.

AbstractDyspnea is associated with fear and intense suffering and is often assessed using visual analog scales (VAS) or numerical rating scales (NRS). However, the physiological correlates of such ratings are not well known. Using the voluntary breath-holding model of induced dyspnea, we studied healthy volunteers to investigate the temporal relationship between dyspnea, the neural drive to breathe assessed in terms of involuntary thoracoabdominal movements (ITMs) and neurovegetative responses.
