SHAKOPEE, Minn. — A motorcyclist died after a crash on Highway 169 Friday. According to Minnesota State Patrol, it happened on the highway near Canterbury Road in Shakopee around 8:20 p.m. Officials said the motorcyclist crashed into the cable median barrier, with the preliminary investigation indicating he experienced a medical episode while driving. The driver was taken to a local hospital, where authorities said he died.

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — A St. Cloud Police Officer shot a man in the arm after he allegedly lunged at the officer with a knife. According to the St. Cloud Police Department, officers were called Friday to a domestic disturbance on the 600 block of 8th Avenue N. When officers arrived, they were speaking to the man and a woman when the man went to sit in a parked vehicle. When officers told the man to get out of the vehicle so he could be arrested, the man initially refused to get out, police said.

STILLWATER, Minn. — A new hospital is breaking ground this summer in the St. Croix Valley. HealthPartners announced the Stillwater City Council has approved the final design plans for the future Lakeview Hospital. The new hospital plans to be six-stories with a campus spanning 400,00 square feet. It will be located at the northeast corner of Manning Avenue and Highway 36 — land that was purchased back in 2017.
Man sentenced to life in prison for Waite Park murder

WAITE PARK, Minn. — A 30-year-old has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a woman in Waite Park two years ago. It happened in the woman's apartment on Park Meadows Drive in February 2023. Prosecutors argued Jarquez Bedford stabbed the victim multiple times in the neck. Bedford was found guilty at trial in January of murder in the first degree, premeditated. He was sentenced Friday to life in prison.
