SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Safe and affordable housing, it’s what Springfield city officials are hoping will come from a rental inspection pilot program. Last week, city council set aside more than $450,000 of it’s budget for the initial start up of the program. While the details are still being worked out many say this effort goes a long way towards improving the city’s livable housing stock. “We know that unsafe housing and our lack of affordable housing are a systemic problem,” said Alice Barber.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Missouri’s Governor announced Tuesday that FEMA will be in the Ozarks. They’ll inspect the damage from recent rain that caused severe flooding and major damage to the area’s roads and bridges. This will include Dade, Douglas, Ozark, Vernon, and Webster Counties. It follows severe weather over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. “It’s a good hangout, little spot to relax, especially during the summer,” said Justin Harrison.
