SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Home meal delivery programs for local seniors are facing challenges. In Springfield, people on a wait list. Now proposed federal funding cuts would make these problems worse. It could force programs to make difficult choices about who to serve. “For some it’s essential,” said Allan DeWoody. He volunteers with SeniorAge Area Agency on Aging taking prepared meals to seniors. Often times he’s delivering more than just the food clients signup to get at little-to-no cost.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - A Springfield woman has no wheels after a tree flattened not just her carport, with the vehicles underneath it. Now the fight begins over who’s footing the bill. “I moved them over here when I moved in, put them under the carport, and figured they would be safe. Apparently not,” said Cierra Sole Parnosky. She is down two vehicles. They are casualties of the severe weather event that swept through Springfield Tuesday morning. Both vehicles were parked at her apartment complex.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Heavy winds caused extensive damage after severe storms hit Springfield Tuesday morning. Like many others, Bob Brooks is still assessing the damage to his home. The biggest problem, he says, is a 60-foot-tall Oak tree that was uprooted and landed on the house. “I didn’t hear the freight train. I didn’t hear the things that are normally associated with it. So it just seemed like maybe it’s just heavy winds and that thing will dissipate,” he said.
