Authorities stated that Okah allegedly ignited his mattress using a box of matches in a deliberate attempt to cause panic within the prison.

Eight suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing and secret burial of a newborn baby at Kwatam Private Hospital along Baga Road in Maiduguri, Borno State. According to a counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred on April 18, 2025, at about 1pm after which concerned residents who saw individuals attempting to bury the baby within the hospital premises raised the alarm.

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has sympathised with 21 people injured by a bomb blast suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram insurgents along Maiduguri-Damboa highway on Saturday. Of the victims, 14 were severely injured, seven had minor injuries and were receiving treatment at the Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri. The governor, while sympathising with the injured, expressed grief and solidarity with the families of the eight people who lost their lives.
