    AUSTIN (KXAN) - Researchers at Colorado State University (CSU) maintain an above-average forecast for the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. CSU forecasts 17 named storms, 9 hurricanes, and 4 major hurricanes (Category 3+). The reasoning behind an aggressive forecast is based on warmer sea surface temperature anomalies in the eastern and central Atlantic and neutral ENSO conditions, which provide a more conductive environment for tropical development.
