BATON ROUGE - 80-year-old James Williams was sitting on his front porch Tuesday when police say a gunman came to the house he lived in for over 60 years before the gunman shot and killed him. Family members of Williams say he was a pillar in the community and will never be forgotten around the neighborhood for his generosity. "You took him from us. I mean took him with a gun at 80-years-old. Why? Why would you do that? He can't hurt nobody. He's been here all his life. He wasn't bothering no one.

WEST BATON ROUGE - Voters rejected a property tax renewal for the city's drainage department during the Mar. 29 election. Its usual millage of 7.2 would have generated $5.9 million for upkeep of the system. "It's strictly to maintain 700 miles that we have within our parish," West Baton Rouge Parish President Jason Manola said. "It's also a parish-wide millage.

PORT ALLEN - West Baton Rouge Parish libraries are at risk of closing their doors after voters rejected a property tax renewal during the March 29 election. A 4.1 mil was proposed on the ballot. ST. GEORGE - A couple of St. George races head to a runoff as the District 4 and one at-large for city council are up for grabs. Patty Cook ended up with 45% of the vote for District 4 Council Member. David Madafarri had 19%. Political analyst James Hartman says this was the most surprising race to head to a runoff. "The odds are in her favor going into the runoff. Perhaps she'll be able to avoid that. If not, she needs to shore up the support of those other candidates and keep doing what's been doing.

Currently, The Bridge Center has to rely on law enforcement to bring mental health callers to them. Executive Director Charlotte Claiborne says the approval kickstarts the formation of a team they will call the Mobile Crisis Response Unit.
