The Oswego Fire Department and the Oswego Police Department will host their annual open house event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Oswego Public Safety Campus on Woolley Road in Oswego. The day’s activities will include a live fire demonstration, flowing water through a real fire hose. Kids will be able to show everyone their “Stop, Drop and Roll” skills, go through an obstacle course and meet firefighters and police officers.

Sunny skies and crisp temperatures greeted visitors to the six Ogle County farms during the University of Illinois Extension Ogle County Farm Stroll, held Oct. 15. During the self-guided tour, visitors choose which farms they wanted to see and created your own route using a map and brochure that was provided. Visitors could pick up a ‘passport’ on their first stop and then fill in the farms they visited.

West Dundee is poised to acquire the last piece needed for redevelopment at Spring Hill Mall. Trustees are expected to vote at their 7:30 p.m. meeting Monday on an agreement to purchase the core of the mall and the movie theater for $7 million. The village expects to close on the mall property in early 2024. It is a significant step forward for the Village of West Dundee,” Village President Chris Nelson said.

The Kendall County Historical Society will host Halloween at the Lyon Farm from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22. Lyon Farm is located at 7935 Route 71 in Yorkville between Van Emmon Road and Route 126. Children are encouraged to dress up in costumes and trick or treat at the historical village buildings. In addition to the trick-or-treating, the afternoon will include a children’s costume parade at 3 p.m. with prizes for the best costumes.
