The city of Peru donated $2,500 on Monday to the Blue and Red Christmas for Kids, a local charity that provides personalized gifts to children in need. The program was established in 2013 by Peru’s police and fire departments in 2013. “This is such a great, great thing,” said Alderman Tom Payton. “And I just want to tell you what a great job you guys did.”Police Chief Sarah Raymond said the donation helps fund the program immensely as the program depletes its funds every year.

Joliet — The members of the Illinois Nurses’ Association at Ascension Saint Joseph Hospital in Joliet announced an informational picket on Wednesday to protest what it is calling wage theft by the hospital. OREGON – The Illinois attorney general is prosecuting the owner of a Rockford firearms training company and a GOP candidate for state Senate who the AG says falsified information in Ogle County for clients who were applying for conceal-carry permits. Juan J. Reyes, 52, of Rockford, is accused of filing paperwork in 2022 that says clients completed the required 16 hours of training when they did not, Attorney General Kwame Raoul said in a news release.
