Every year, the Amarillo Area Foundation hosts the Panhandle Gives event that begins on the Monday before Thanksgiving and ends on Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving. This year the dates are November 25 through December 3. During this event, local non-profit organizations are eligible to participate and all donations made to the organization through the Panhandle Gives campaign are amplified.

Lockport Township High School students got a lesson in the democratic process on Tuesday, and many of them were excited to get involved. Representatives from the Will County Clerk’s office visited East Campus on Tuesday during Compass period and lunch period to inform students about the election process and offer an opportunity for eligible students to register to vote. Students who have turned 18 or who are 17 and will turn 18 before the general election on Nov.

Peru will be able to make significant upgrades to the ice rink at Washington Park, including buying a chiller to keep the ice frozen longer throughout the winter, thanks in part to a $600,000 state grant announced Tuesday. “We are very excited,” said Adam Thorson, Peru’s director of parks, recreation and special events.
