That tends to happen when one patrols the city streets with a therapy dog named Bear, and an African Grey Parrot named Jazzy. The trio put a very friendly face on a job not always associated with one. “A lot of people, when they see Animal Control think, ‘Oh no, they’re going to take my dog,’” Kjellgren said. “I'm just here to say hi.

A 16-year-old girl from Oakland would love to join the list of Olympic-caliber figure skaters from the Bay Area. Like a lot of the greats, Mia Kalin got an early start. Going into tonight’s free skate at the World Figure Skating Championships, Alysa Liu is in first place. This is a woman who hadn’t put on a pair of skates for TWO YEARS before coming out of retirement last year. Loved hearing her story. @nbcbayarea https://t.co/2ZsLQ5JYZj
