New Jersey American Water Signs Agreement to Purchase South Orange Village Water System

CAMDEN, N.J. – March 6, 2025 – New Jersey American Water announced today it signed an agreement to acquire the water system in South Orange Village for $19.7 million. This announcement follows a referendum vote in November of 2024 in which 62% of South Orange voters approved the sale of the system. The South Orange water system serves approximately 5,000 customer connections.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - On Sunday evening the Maplewood Police Department received multiple reports of gunshots having been fired. The Police Officers immediately responded and arrived at the area of Elmwood Ave and Boyden Ave. Upon arrival at the scene, the Police Officers checked and noted that , fortunately, no injuries had been sustained. Searching the scene they were able to recover ballistic evidence, and further identified a person of interest.

NEWARK, NJ – A 32-point fourth quarter sealed Newark Tech's 78-51 boys basketball victory over Columbia on Thursday. Nate Kirby collected 22 points, five rebounds and two assists for Columbia (4-10), which trailed by three points, 28-25, at halftime. Earl Hart had 13 points, five rebounds and two assists for the Cougars. Jalen Baker totaled 25 points and 10 rebounds for Newark Tech (9-2), which closed out the game with a 32-15 showing in the fourth quarter.
