A woman who “continuously” pestered a man for money at his town home has been jailed. Sharon Mincher was told that her offence was “so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified”. Teesside Magistrates’ Court heard how Mincher, 54, of Rydal Street, Hartlepool, caused her victim “serious alarm or distress” after she “continuously attended his home address and pestered him for money” between January and March.

A dual carriageway has reopened after it was shut for around eight hours following a fatal collision. The A19 closed on Thursday, June 5, at around 6.45am following the collision involving a Land Rover and a lorry. Motorists faced lengthy diversions after the road was shut in either direction between the A1086 at Little Thorpe, near Easington, and the A181 at Castle Eden. Durham Constabulary have now confirmed that the road has reopened in both directions.

Motorists face delays after the A19 was closed in both directions following “a serious collision”. The National Highways agency says the dual carriageway is shut in both directions between the A1086 at Little Thorpe, near Easington, and the A181 at Castle Eden. “This is due to a serious collision,” it posted on social media on Thursday morning. It added at around 8.15am on Thursday, June 5, that the “ongoing incident” involved “a car and HGV”.

Multi-million-pound proposals to expand Hartlepool’s growing screen production industry have moved a vital step forward. Planning applications have been lodged to enhance the existing Northern Studios, in Lynn Street, Hartlepool, and develop a production village in the surrounding area. This would see a number of derelict buildings brought back into use to create pre and post-production facilities to support the studios.
