CJ Montes isn’t coming to The Highest of Seven Hills after all. On Thursday, May 8, Zach McKinnell, Senior Editor and Owner of Sports Illustrated’s FCS Football Central, reported that the transfer quarterback isn’t transferring to Florida A&M football. Montes initially announced his commitment to the Rattlers on Sunday, April 27.

Former FAMU cornerback Kendall Bohler signed a three-year undrafted free agent contract with the Denver Broncos. Bohler, an HBCU All-American and Black College National Champion, participated in various pre-draft events. He joins four other FAMU alumni currently in the NFL. Bohler aims to prove himself and represent HBCU football during the Broncos' rookie minicamp and upcoming season. The work starts now for Kendall Bohler.

The Florida A&M Rattlers softball team, the top seed in the SWAC East, begins its quest for its first SWAC Tournament championship on Tuesday, May 6 against Grambling State. The double-elimination tournament takes place at the Gulfport Sportsplex in Gulfport, Mississippi and will be streamed on the SWAC Digital Network on YouTube. FAMU finished the regular season 23-18 (19-5 SWAC) with two All-SWAC Second Team selections. The SWAC Tournament champion earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

FAMU baseball swept Alabama A&M in a three-game home series, extending their winning streak to five. The Rattlers now hold a 24-21 overall record and are second in the SWAC standings. FAMU will play their final regular season series on the road against Texas Southern and Alcorn State. William Brown hit two home runs over the weekend and leads the team with 11 on the season. Florida A&M baseball was merely unstoppable this weekend against Alabama A&M.

Florida A&M quarterback Junior Muratovic has entered the NCAA transfer portal. The Rattlers recently gained a commitment from former Fordham quarterback and Walter Payton Award finalist CJ Montes. FAMU tight end Koby Gross has re-entered the transfer portal after initially deciding to return to the team. The Rattlers open their 2025 season against Howard in the Orange Blossom Classic. Longtime Florida A&M football backup quarterback Junior Muratovic has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Florida A&M's women's tennis team is heading to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three seasons. The Rattlers clinched a tournament berth by winning the SWAC Championship against Jackson State, 4-2. FAMU will face the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs in the regional round in Athens, Georgia. The team achieved this success with a roster of only six players. SWAC Player of the Year, Sara Rakim, leads the Rattlers. Florida A&M women’s tennis team has more matches to play.

Florida A&M senior baseball player Jalen Niles will be honored during his final home series. Niles has been a four-year starter at shortstop, helping the Rattlers win their first SWAC title and playing in the inaugural HBCU Swingman Classic. He will graduate with a Master's in Sport Management, adding to his family's legacy of FAMU alumni. Niles is recovering from a leg injury but hopes to play in the final home series against Alabama A&M.
