    Aspire Food Group, the London-based business that produces food proteins from crickets, has been placed in the hands of a receiver. A receivership order granted in the Toronto Court of Superior Justice has placed Aspire in the hands of receiver FTI Consulting Canada. The decision was based on a filing from Farm Credit Canada, which reports being owed $41.5 million. According to information provided by the company, Aspire was formed by five McGill University students in 2013.

    Huge plumes of black smoke pushed into the air over east London on Monday afternoon. The London Fire Department asked residents in the area of Clarke Road and Gore Road to close windows and avoid going outside while the fire was being brought under control. Platoon Chief Jamie Britton told CTV News, “It was a fair bit of heavy black smoke, so a lot of carbon in that smoke, which is very cancer causing. All smoke has some type of carcinogenic in it.

    A hardware issue had patients backed up in London emergency rooms Sunday evening. London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) officials say several hospitals in the region were affected by a disruption to the systems which manage patient information electronically. Emergency rooms at the LHSC’s Victoria and University campuses were impacted. The disruption started around 9:45 p.m. on Sunday and affected the hospitals ability to register incoming patients.

    Monday marked the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirited+ people. Memorial events were held throughout London and in surrounding communities. On the Oneida Nation of the Thames, southwest of the city, a solemn procession moved down a memorial walk designed to recognizing victims. Oneida members and those from surrounding communities stressed the importance of honouring those who have been lost.
