One person was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital after a vehicle crash in Solvang Monday afternoon. Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at Highway 246 and Alamo Pintado Road, which was reported at 12:42 p.m., the Santa Barbara County Fire Department said. Responding firefighters had to extricate the adult female driver in one vehicle, Capt. Scott Safechuck said. She had major injuries.

Local fire and medical 9-1-1 calls will be routed to one dispatch center starting next week with the launch of Santa Barbara County’s new Regional Fire Communications Center. Multiple dispatch centers currently field law enforcement, fire and medical emergency calls in the county. Once the RFCC opens, it will centralize dispatch for fire departments in the county and for emergency medical services.

Santa Barbara County sheriff’s detectives arrested a Lompoc man on Thursday on suspicion of sexual battery. Starting Sunday, detectives investigated a report of a suspected sexual battery of an adult female at a post-prom party at Bowlero in Goleta, spokeswoman Raquel Zick said. They identified a suspect as Miguel “Michael” Angel Juarez of Lompoc and arrested him on Thursday. He was booked into the Northern Branch Jail on suspicion of misdemeanor sexual battery on $10,000 bail, Zick said.

Another “mini heat wave” is headed to Santa Barbara County. Friday and Saturday will have temperatures reach the high-70s and 80s, according to the National Weather Service forecast. Heat advisories were issued for San Luis Obispo and Ventura counties, but none had been released for Santa Barbara County as of Thursday afternoon.

Authorities briefly locked down Adams Elementary School Thursday afternoon while searching for an “erratic driver” suspect and later confirmed the campus was safe. Santa Barbara Police requested to put the school on “secure” status, which means people stay inside and lock their doors, Principal Kelly Fresch wrote in a message to school families. Classes continued instruction.
