A man was airlifted to the hospital with major injuries Thursday night after a rollover crash on Palmer Road south of Santa Maria. At 11:40 p.m., a man driving a Honda Accord crashed on the 6600 block of Palmer Road and was trapped inside the car, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department said. He was extricated from the wreckage and airlifted by a CalStar helicopter to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria. His name and details on his condition were not available.

A vehicle crash on Highway 154 near San Antonio Creek Road blocked all eastbound lanes for about an hour Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol. The three-vehicle collision was reported around 12:45 p.m. The Santa Barbara CHP Office posted a traffic alert on social media warning drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes while lanes were blocked.

A three-vehicle collision on Modoc Road injured two people Thursday afternoon. The crash was reported at 12:32 p.m. at Modoc Road and Via Senda. A man with major injuries, who had to be extricated from the vehicle wreckage, and a woman with moderate injuries were transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by American Medical Response ambulances, County Fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said.

A 20-year-old man pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter last month for a hit-and-run collision that killed a Goleta man on Storke Road. David Zhao Rousso was charged with hit-and-run causing injury or death and vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence in the Sept. 20, 2023, collision that killed 29-year-old Ruben Reyes Victoria. Victoria was working on landscape maintenance at the time of the collision along Storke Road near Bollay Drive, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Santa Barbara County rescuers helped an injured mountain biker off Tunnel Trail Tuesday night. Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue, County Fire and American Medical Response were dispatched to the trail at 6:48 p.m. to rescue the 30-year-old man who had fallen and suffered an upper leg injury, SAR member Jason Copus said. SAR members and county firefighters used a rescue litter to carry the biker to a SAR vehicle and then an ambulance, he said.
