Carpinteria will need help from the community to fund repairs and improvements at the Community Pool at 5305 Carpinteria Ave. A consultant estimated that the city currently needs $969,382 to repair the pool deck, replace the filter system, pumps, pool heater, the chlorine delivery system, and address other equipment issues. The city hired Counsilman-Hunsaker, a pool design firm, to assess the community pool in April.

Santa Barbara County emergency officials will start using a new mapping software to aid the public and emergency responders during wildfire evacuations and other emergencies. On Tuesday the Goleta City Council approved an agreement with the Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) to use Genasys EVAC, a map-based mobile app that will allow residents to see if their area has evacuation warnings or orders, nearby shelters for people and animals, and road closures.

Huyck Stadium was packed with family members and supporters of the Lompoc High School Class of 2025 Friday morning. The 385 graduates were recognized for their record number of college credits, helping to pass Measure M School Bonds, and for overcoming their individual challenges. The graduates entered the stadium one by one as their friends and family cheered from the bleachers, waving signs, and blaring noise makers.

Four Santa Barbara County Rite Aid stores will close after the company filed for bankruptcy for the second time in two years. The Santa Barbara County stores were spared from the initial list of 115 stores closing across the country, but Rite Aid announced that an additional 111 stores will be closing, according to court documents filed May 30. The four Santa Barbara County stores include:199 N Fairview Ave.

It looks like there will be two rodeos held during the week of Fiesta. After Earl Warren Showgrounds and Old Spanish Days severed ties and announced they would not bring back the Fiesta Stock Horse Show and Rodeo this year, the two groups announced their own rodeo events to be held in early August. On Tuesday, Earl Warren Showgrounds leaders said they will host Santa Barbara Rodeo Days and a “fiesta-themed” carnival.
