It’s been a week since immigration raids at construction sites in Tallahassee led to more than 100 arrests. We dive into the topic on today’s Speaking Of Radio Hour. You may have seen pictures of the detainees lined up, wearing zip tie handcuffs, and being loaded onto buses. Dozens of law enforcement officers and vehicles surrounded a particularly large construction site along Gaines Street across from Doak Campbell Stadium.

A 5-year-old Tallahassee girl is dead, and her mom and stepdad are facing charges related to child abuse and neglect. Tallahassee police say the child was found unresponsive at her home in the 4100 block of Kipling Ct. on Monday. 35-year-old Daniel Spencer and 23-year-old Chloe Spencer were arrested after officers found what they called suspicious bruising and injury patterns on the little girl. TPD says more charges may be filed pending the results of the autopsy.

A Rickards High School student is facing a charge related to a social media threat. The Leon County Sheriff’s Office says they got a tip about a student making a threat in an Instagram video related to a mass shooting at the school. The student was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center. Suspicious activity related to Leon County Schools can be reported on the Fortify FL app or by calling 850-922-KIDS.

A Tallahassee teacher and coach leaves Tuesday on a bicycle trip across the world. 65-year-old Kevin Record is trying to set a record as the oldest person to circumnavigate the globe by bicycle. He’s taking a leave of absence from Leon High School, where he’ll start and finish the trip. Non-experts from WFSU talk about college sports.
