The Stillwater City Council passed an ordinance this week that bans cryptocurrency ATMs within the city limits. City officials say the machines themselves are legitimate when it comes to exchanging cash for shares of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, but the machines are often used by scammers. The scams often include a phone call, email or text message that is sent to an individual, claiming that they owe money, and they must pay it now.

MINNEAPOLIS — Hospitals across the country are working to figure out how to address a shortage of nurses. This shortage was intensified during the pandemic when countless nurses left the profession due to the stresses of the job. The latest job forecasts suggest the gap could grow wider if healthcare systems don’t make changes to address the shortage. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the nursing profession will see a 6% increase in job growth from 2023 to 2033.

This week, more than 200 seasonal workers have started working with the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District (MMCD) to monitor mosquito numbers across the Twin Cities. Field Operations Supervisor Charlie Guenther leads a team in the northwest region that includes Ramsey, Rogers and Greenfield.

MINNEAPOLIS — Every year, thousands of car buyers stop by the Twin Cities Auto Show at the Minneapolis Convention Center to see the latest vehicles on the market. This year, a lot of car buyers were also looking for answers as to how tariffs could impact the auto industry and whether now is a good time to buy. “It’s kind of fun to look,” potential buyer Dean Schoeb said. Even casual buyers like Schoeb are curious to learn more about how tariffs could impact prices.
