MINNEAPOLIS — A new round of tariffs went into effect Wednesday morning that raised the tariff on imported steel and aluminum to 50%. Business analysts say the tariff could affect a variety of industries, including construction, appliances, automakers, and electronics. At Steve’s Appliances in Mounds View, nearly every item in their showroom is made of metal. “There is obviously a lot of metal, aluminum, steel, stainless steel here,” manager Brian Hoverman says.

MINNESOTA, USA — The smoke in the air on Tuesday was so thick you could see it and smell it. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) released an air quality alert, with most of the Twin Cities Metro in the red, which signifies air quality that is unhealthy for all individuals. Ryan Lueck with the MPCA says usually rain cleans the air, but with this much smoke, the rain pulled more smoke down to the surface.

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Every morning the food trucks line up outside the Minnesota State Capitol to attract state employees during their daily lunch break. Nancy Alayon owns Que Tal Street Eats and she normally sets up her food truck outside the capitol about three to four times a week. “Mondays and Fridays are usually slower days,” Alayon says. However, this Monday she is expecting a bigger crowd thanks to the new return to the office order going into effect.

ROSEVILLE, Minn — This year, an estimated 22,000 animals will be treated at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Roseville, Minnesota. "We are the busiest wildlife hospital in the nation and one of the busiest in the world,” said medical director Renee Schott. That reputation attracts veterinarians and students from around the world to stop by the center to see how they manage such a high number of animals.

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — In the State of Hockey there's a lot of history, miracles, North Stars, Wild and now Frost. With two back-to-back championships, the Frost certainly earned their place in the history books. Wednesday night the city of Saint Paul rolled out the welcome mat with a parade through downtown. Hundreds of fans lined the streets to cheer on the team after a hard-fought battle in the championship round. The team played four games in a row that all went into overtime.
