During this time, we had 47 members receive a proficiency award for their supervised agriculture experience. These members work hard all year long to gain experience and be able to apply for this award. Members fill out an application form with a description of their project and information on what they did throughout the year.

The H5N1 strain has spread from wild birds to backyard flocks and even to mammals, including dairy cattle and pets. Norfolk-based wildlife rehabber Susan Siegel runs the non-profit Return2Wild, which rescues and rehabilitates orphaned and injured animals.

Morando was just 5 years old when she went on her first pony ride, at a carnival. “I fell in love with the sport as soon as I threw my leg over the saddle,” she said.

By Grace AllenRep. Jake Auchincloss has named Sophia Evans, a 12th grader at King Philip Regional High School, as the winner of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge for Massachusetts’s 4th District. The national competition invites students to showcase their talents in computer science. Evans’ app, called EcoConnect, aims to make it easy for people to promote and attend cleanup events in their community.

By Grace AllenGilly’s House in Wrentham is holding a public menorah lighting to mark the Jewish festival of Hanukkah. The event will take place on Saturday, December 28 at 6:30 p.m. The outdoor lighting ceremony will include traditional music, dancing, donuts, chocolate gelt and more. The menorah lighting, to be held on the third night of Hanukkah, is free of charge and open to everyone of all ages and all religious faiths.
