Donald Turrell, 99, from Frinton, was just 17 when he enlisted into the Army after forging a letter from his parents. Colchester roadworks to take extra three weeks due to 'ageing pipes'

Cadent Gas had been due to finish gas pipe replacement works in Wimpole Road on May 16 but the date has now been extended to June 6. The road has been closed since April 16 and has caused heavy traffic issues in the area. This is due to workers finding out the gas pipes were in a much worse condition than originally thought.

Three friends, Mr Massink, the landowner; Mr Miles and Mr Chantry submitted plans to build homes on land adjacent to 55 Church Road, Elmstead Market, in October last year. Each party hoped to build one bungalow for themselves and their partner and one bungalow for their parent in a cul-de-sac arrangement. The dwellings will be self-built. During the consultation process the plans received six objections and one neutral comment.

Paul Jones, 59, living in Clacton, is a former Essex Police officer who served in Harlow and Epping Forest for over four years until a tragic accident paralysed him. He is hoping to get Nigel Farage's support on the Injury on Duty Award Scheme, which is trying to get recognition for police officers, paramedics and firefighters who have been seriously injured on the job. The campaign, set up by former police officer Tom Curry, has the support of over 190 MPs across the country.
