Local doctors and city leaders say it’s important to keep a few things in mind as you’re heading outside. “We’re experiencing some hot summers, and I think this is probably going to be one of the hottest summers on record according to the research,” said District 1 Commissioner Jordan Johnson.

CLARKS HILL, SC. (WJBF)- It is now officially summer, which means many of you will be going to the lake. The Corps of Engineers is still working to clean up storm damage from the hurricane, but now they’re getting some extra help. Last month, they took us on a tour of the grounds here at Clarks Hill Lake. There’s still work to do, but they’ve now secured important funding to speed up the process.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Thursday marks 160 years since June 19th, 1865—-the day marked as the official end of slavery in the United States. Of the many celebrations for the Juneteenth holiday, the Band of Brothers Augusta organization hosted it’s 9th annual Juneteenth festival. Patrons and vendors set up around the Exchange Club fairgrounds, so we found out from them how they’re celebrating the big occasion. Heather Ervin is one of many vendors selling some good eats.

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WJBF) – Almost nine months since Hurricane Helene, storm cleanup is ongoing at North Augusta’s Living History Park. City leaders just reopened Creighton Park after it also suffered storm damage Tuesday, but there’s still more work to do right across the street. But with a July 4th event on the calendar, they are trying to get operations up and running once again. Sydney Carley is one of those living in the city that hopes the park will reopen soon.
