SEATTLE (WISH) — The Jim Irsay Collection will loan several iconic items to Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture for the upcoming exhibit Never Turn Back: Echoes of African American Music, opening in May. The collection will loan James Brown’s Stage-Worn, Red Sequined Cape; John Coltrane’s 1966 Yamaha Alto Saxophone; and Miles Davis’s 1980 Martin Committee Trumpet.

NASHVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Annual guided walks through the wildflowers will return for its 40th year late this month, the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites says. The 40th annual Wildflower Foray will be April 25-27 in Brown and Monroe counties. In addition to guided hikes, the event will feature wildlife workshops and family-friendly activities. Visitors also can participate in a spring wildflower census to help document plant species.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on Friday afternoon released video of a February police shooting on its YouTube page. Police were called just after 2 a.m. Feb. 25 to the Speedway gas station in the 100 block of North State Avenue and along the 1600 block of East Washington Street. An officer recognized a man inside the gas station as Adam Sykes, 31. He was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

CAYUGA, Ind. (WISH) — The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission on Thursday will hold two field hearings in Bloomington and Terre Haute to gather public comments on Duke Energy’s plans to build natural-gas units at the site of its coal-fired Cayuga generating station. Duke Energy estimates the project at its Vermillion County station will cost at $3.33 billion. The electricity utility serves about 900,000 customers in 69 Indiana counties.

NASHVILLE, Ind. (BROWN COUNTY DEMOCRAT) — Brown County’s last surviving veteran of World War II recently received a special recognition for his service to his country. Maurice Wright, 97, a retired minister and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard who served during WWII was presented with a Quilts of Valor quilt during a ceremony in his home in Nashville on March 30. The quilt was presented by members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 18 based in Bloomington.
