    Mountain bikers will soon have a new path to traverse in the Boise Foothills. Crews will begin construction on the new downhill Sideshow Trail above Hulls Gulch in mid-April, according to a news release from Boise Parks & Recreation. The two-mile trail on BLM land will connect Corrals Trail to Bob’s Trail and the 8th Street Connection. Sideshow will be for downhill mountain biking only — pedestrians, horseback riders, and dogs are not allowed.

    A fast-casual Asian restaurant is expanding into its 11th location. Happy Teriyaki will soon open at 6708 N Glenwood St. in Garden City, where the former Dickey’s Barbeque Pit was. Happy Teriyaki owners Jong and Tae Cho’s growing restaurant business started from humble beginnings. Tae moved to Washington from South Korea 26 years ago and landed a job in a restaurant as a dishwasher.

    Blue Cross of Idaho will lay off more than 100 employees following the loss of a contract with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. Blue Cross President and CEO Paul Zurlo sent a company-wide email Thursday obtained by BoiseDev announcing 135 positions will be impacted. The email explains that the cuts stem from DHW opting to go with another provider for the dual-eligible Medicare/Medicaid program, or Duals. The Duals program serves individuals eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid.

    A discount airline is flying back to the Boise Airport. Frontier Airlines announced it will begin offering nonstop flights from Boise to Denver this spring. The service will be offered three times per week, with fares starting at $29 if booked by February 24. Service begins on May 15. The budget airline also rolled out options for seat upgrades called UpFront Plus.

    A Florida-based company that owns dozens of golf courses and country clubs bought The Club at Spurwing in Meridian. The private club near Chinden and Ten Mile features an 18-hole “championship” course with a swimming pool, fitness facilities, dining options, tennis, and pickleball courts. It is surrounded by luxury homes. At 7,300 yards, it’s the longest private golf course in the region.
