A longstanding Chinese restaurant in Garden City is closing for good next week. Golden Wok on Chinden Blvd. will serve its final meals on Saturday, May 17. The owners of Golden Wok announced the closing on social media, saying that their two oldest kids in their 20s have no interest in taking over the business, and their youngest daughter, a nine-year-old, is lonely at home. “She always wishes on Santa list only one wish… she wish her mom and dad stay home with her more after school and weekend.

The wheels at a Boise Olympian’s cycling gym are about to stop spinning. Pivot by Krston Armstrong on Ten Mile in South Meridian is closing on Saturday, May 31. Members of the Ten Mile location got an email on Thursday informing them of the closure. The notice states that the gym wasn’t penciling out. “We’ve poured our heart, energy, and resources into making Ten Mile thrive. But despite our best efforts, it hasn’t proven to be a sustainable path forward,” the email reads.

Payette Brewing is downsizing — but not disappearing. A reader noticed a “for lease” sign in front of the brewery on Pioneer St. in Boise on Thursday. A listing from TOK Commercial Real Estate shows that 27,000 square feet, which is the majority of the building, is available. It’s advertised as flexible office and warehouse space. An image on the flyer shows that the taproom and beer garden are not a part of the listing.

Mountain bikers will soon have a new path to traverse in the Boise Foothills. Crews will begin construction on the new downhill Sideshow Trail above Hulls Gulch in mid-April, according to a news release from Boise Parks & Recreation. The two-mile trail on BLM land will connect Corrals Trail to Bob’s Trail and the 8th Street Connection. Sideshow will be for downhill mountain biking only — pedestrians, horseback riders, and dogs are not allowed.

A fast-casual Asian restaurant is expanding into its 11th location. Happy Teriyaki will soon open at 6708 N Glenwood St. in Garden City, where the former Dickey’s Barbeque Pit was. Happy Teriyaki owners Jong and Tae Cho’s growing restaurant business started from humble beginnings. Tae moved to Washington from South Korea 26 years ago and landed a job in a restaurant as a dishwasher.
