After Thursday, and into next weekend, island weather will be highly dependent on the track and intensity of a tropical cyclone that is expected to develop far east-southeast of the islands. A weak disturbance moving through the western islands will continue to produce some enhancement in the overnight showers through early Tuesday morning. We've declared Saturday and Sunday as First Alert Weather Days.Wind speeds may strengthen by the weekend as the potential for tropical cyclone activity increases near the Hawaii region.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Trade winds will ease briefly Wednesday through Thursday, then return to breezy levels Friday through the weekend. Showers will favor windward and mauka locations, particularly during the overnight and early morning periods as areas of moisture move through. The remnants of Tropical Storm Emilia will be passing near the state tonight through Thursday, likely bringing a slight increase in showers for a few windward neighborhoods and a temporary easing of the breezy winds.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Persistent high pressure far north of the islands will support locally breezy trade winds through the weekend. Passing trade showers will periodically dampen most windward areas, with some showers occasionally spreading leeward, particularly overnight. The remnants of T.S. Emilia will graze the northernmost islands of Oahu and Kauai in the Wednesday-Thursday period leading to another uptick in trade wind shower activity.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Trade winds will gradually ease through tomorrow then return to breezy levels by Sunday. Showers will favor windward and mauka areas, mostly overnight through the morning periods. Increased moisture embedded in the trades and a less stable atmosphere due to the weakening ridge and higher temperature inversion heights may allow for a slightly cloudier and wetter pattern over the next several days. A new small south- southwest swell is expected to build Friday.

A dry airmass will limit rainfall chances through much of the week, with the best chances remaining over windward and mauka locations during the overnight through the morning periods. A slight increase in moisture associated with a disturbance aloft could lead to increased shower coverage later this week and into the upcoming weekend.

A passing disturbance will decrease wind speeds from Thursday on into the Weekend. An easterly wave will move through the islands by next weekend increasing cloud and shower trends across the state. Brief shower activity will favor windward and mountain areas in the overnight to early morning hours.

The trades will ramp back up to moderate and breezy levels Sunday through Thursday, with rather dry conditions Sunday and Monday, trending a bit more showery by the middle of next week. More showers are expected from Tuesday through Thursday.
