Man caught with 20 kilograms of cocaine sentenced to 4 years

A Richmond man has been sentenced Tuesday to 4 years in prison after being pulled over with more than 20 kilograms of cocaine in the car. On Sept. 16, 2024, Sterling Hill Jr., 37, was driving in Henrico County. Officers said they saw him make an improper lane change and then fail to stop at a stop sign. A traffic stop was then initiated, and a K9 narcotics officer and his partner happened to be on scene. The canine detected the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.
Richmond man sentenced to 5 years for illegal possession of a firearm

A Richmond man was sentenced to 5 years in prison on Thursday for illegally possessing a firearm. On May 15, 2024, Richmond police, assisted by Virginia State Police, were searching for Rushion Leeper, 22, on an outstanding warrant for grand larceny of a firearm. Court documents say that units had stationed near a gas station when they spotted Leeper. Before officers could approach him, Leeper noticed them and fled on foot.
Second person charged in connection to girl's body found at Ancarrow's Landing

Polcie arrested and charged a second person in connection to the death of a 17-year-old girl whose body was found at Ancarrow's Landing last month. Abigail Katrina Hardoby, 18, is charged with concealing a dead body and accessory after the fact in a homicide. On Tuesday, Austin Akers-Reid, 19, was charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a murder and concealment of a dead body.
Pedestrian struck along West Broad Street, taken to hospital

A pedestrian is in the hospital after a collision along West Broad Street, according to Henrico police. Units responded to the scene near Lauderdale Drive just before noon on Monday. Upon arrival, they found the victim with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and took them to a local hospital for treatment.
John Marshall HS senior killed in Mother's Day shooting

A senior at John Marshall High School in Richmond is dead following a shooting over the weekend. In a Facebook post on Sunday, 6th District School Board member Shonda Harris-Muhammed identified the victim as Sherrod Bosher. "Sherrod was a part of our family, and his loss is deeply felt across our community," the post continued. On Monday, RPS Superintendent Jason Kamras sent out a message to families addressing the incident as well.

Man killed in head-on collision on Pemberton Road in Henrico

A man is dead after a head-on collision on Pemberton Road on Thursday, according to Henrico police. Units responded just before 2:15 p.m. to the scene near Bohollow Drive. The male driver was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the other car involved in the crash, who is a woman, was taken to a local hospital for what police consider to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Ex-Henrico police officer charged with possession of child abuse material

Last week, the FBI in Richmond arrested and charged three Virginia men — two in the Richmond area, including a former Henrico police officer — as part of a nationwide operation to combat child exploitation. Allan Darrell Martin Jr., of Henrico, was arrested on April 29. He is charged with possession and receipt of child sexual abuse material. Henrico officials confirmed Martin is a former county police officer.
Richmond police ID victim in Walmsley Boulevard shooting

Richmond police have identified the man killed in a shooting on Walmsley Boulevard as Donavan Depriest, 23, of Richmond. Detectives have also arrested Michael Davis, 37, of North Chesterfield, and charged him with murder. Officers were called to the 3400 block of Walmsley Boulevard at 11:15 p.m. on April 10. Upon arrival, they found Depriest down with an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
