    Negotiations between Baton Rouge’s bus system and the local transit union have hit a wall again. Leaders for the Capital Area Transit System say they are committed to a fair contract, but union employees say the company has been unresponsive to their call for higher wages. CATS and union members agreed to extend their current contract through Jan. 31. But communication over the new contract has since deteriorated, union leaders say.

    If your pipes are frozen from the historic cold temperatures in Louisiana this week, be prepared to wait it out. "I’m advising everybody wait until the great thaw is over," Todd Billiot of Master Drain and Plumbing Services in Youngsville said Wednesday. Billiot said he doesn't expect frozen pipes to begin thawing out naturally until Thursday, when temperatures are expected to climb into the 40s. Thursday "will be the day of reckoning when everybody starts finding leaks," he said.
