AbstractTraditionally, the surface charge number (SCN) of permanently charged soils/clay minerals is believed to be unaffected by environmental pH. However, recent studies have revealed the occurrence of polarization-induced covalent bonding between H+ and the surface O atoms of permanently charged clay minerals. This discovery challenges the traditional notions of “permanently charged soil” and “permanently charged clay mineral”.

Introduction Elderly hip fracture is a worldwide public health concern, which causes significant morbidity, disability, mortality and socioeconomic pressure.1, 2 Despite the prevalent view that low bone mineral density (BMD) is a primary risk factor for fractures, numerous studies have highlighted the significant role of trabecular bone architecture in maintaining the biomechanical integrity of bone tissue.3, 4 Over recent decades, the trabecular bone within the proximal femur has emerged as...

1. IntroductionWith the development of technologies such as global positioning systems, remote sensing, sensors, and geographic information systems, agricultural production demands higher-precision seeding technology to improve the quality of seeding operations and reduce the cost of machine operations [1,2,3]. In the 1940s, relevant foreign scholars began to study precision seeding technology.

Preparation and characterisation of wheat starch-based aerogels for procyanidins encapsulation to enhance stability
Procyanidins (PC) are formed by the polymerisation of flavan-3-ol monomers, which have excellent bioactivity and present great health benefits. However, the application range of the PC is greatly limited due to its poor stability. Therefore, in this study, starch aerogels were used as carriers to encapsulate PC.
