    TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – In Tulare County, a second-degree murder suspect was granted clemency by Governor Gavin Newsom. Richard Garcia was found guilty of taking part in the murder of 18-year-old Arturo Bello in 2009. Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward and Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux are not pleased with Newsom’s decision. DA Ward says Newson’s administration does not prioritize the victims of crime.

    FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Caltrans honored the fallen men and women during their annual memorial ceremony by displaying 194 orange safety zones. Each cone was labeled with the name of a worker who lost their life while striving to make California’s highways safer. “I look around this memorial, and I don’t see cones. I see human beings,” said CHP Lt. David Singer. Since 1921, 194 Caltrans workers have been killed while working on California state highways.

    MERCED, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Merced County and city officials are cleaning up one of the largest homeless encampments within the county. Law enforcement says the plot of land at Crist Avenue and De Long Street has been a problem area for years, but it’s recently gotten out of control with 64 structures, 54 occupants, nearly 20 dogs, and seven cars. “You come down Highway 99, and this is what you see. This is not what Merced is about,” said Merced County’s PIO Mike North.

    HURON, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A baby is home safe with family after a Huron Police Officer saved its life. Last weekend, the officer was responding to a 911 call from a babysitter and was the first to arrive on the scene, even beating the paramedics. Officer Brayden Grove says in Huron, the police can arrive on a scene within minutes, whereas it can take EMS 20 minutes or more. And in such critical situations, every minute can mean the difference between life and death.
