SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A few feet from the front door of a small, green house on a quiet street is a patch of dirt where the grass won’t grow. The patch marks the place where 25-year-old Caleb Slay lay bleeding after being shot twice in the head by a federal agent. Slay wasn’t the target of an investigation. But he died within minutes of encountering Anthony Gasperoni, the Drug Enforcement Administration agent who pulled the trigger, and his partner, John Stuart.
