Tonight's the night to see those Arts Access Fund dollars being put to work. Portland Public Schools, in partnership with the Portland Art Museum, is hosting its annual HeArt of Portland: A Portland Public Schools K-12 Arts Showcase, with its kickoff event Wednesday, April 16. From 6:30 to 8 p.m., attendees can view more than 100 pieces of student artwork at the Portland Art Museum, 1219 S.W. Park Ave., followed by an evening of performances.

Verselandia! is coming back to Portlandia soon. From 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, Portland's high school youth poets will participate in a poetry slam championship at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, 1037 S.W. Broadway, Portland. “Verselandia! is a vital event that centers young people and empowers them to share their stories and perspectives with our community,” Olivia Jones-Hall, director of youth programs at Literary Arts, said in a news release.

His career kicked off at the introduction of the Type 6 MAX train launch — the first new train released in a decade — and now he's a pro at the ins and outs of all things trains. "There's a world of difference," he said when comparing the new train model to previous ones. In mid-January, the first Type 6 trains rolled out for service.
