Issac Booker Justham, 25, of Portland, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree aggravated animal abuse after being caught on camera abusing a dog in an elevator last summer, court records show, and was sentenced on Friday, April 11. Justham faces a 16-month prison sentence followed by three years of probation. He is banned from owning domestic animals for 15 years. Two counts of first-degree aggravated animal abuse were dismissed along with four counts of second-degree animal abuse.

Portland Parks & Recreation's Community Music Center is celebrating 70 years of music education with a community event on Saturday, May 3. “Today we think of the arts and recreation going hand in hand,” PP&R Community Music Center Director Gregory Dubay said in a press release. “But in 1955 it was new and experimental for a parks and recreation department to have music classes.”The event aims to honor the music education and instructors who have taught for more than 25 years.

Michael Lynn Moore Jr., 39, was arrested for allegedly breaking into an apartment and sexually assaulting a sleeping woman on Wednesday, April 9, in the 4800 block of Southeast 30th Avenue in Portland. Lynn Moore Jr. is charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, second-degree sexual abuse and third-degree sexual abuse.
