Valparaiso broker named to top 40 under 40 list

“Financial Planning” included one Region broker on its list of Top 40 Regional Brokers Under 40 in 2025. Albert Miller, 35, of Raymond James & Associates in Valparaiso, landed No. 14 for producing $2.5 million in annual revenue. The revenue total was from the 12-month period of Oct. 1, 2023, to Sept. 30, 2024. Raymond James also took top honors as having the most brokers on the list, with 15 honorees, an increase from 11 in 2024.

While Ashton Verbish's Safety Glow continues to win awards, another team landed a first in STARTedUP history during the Region 4 Innovate WithIN pitch competition April 14. Septo, created by a team from Munster High School, earned a wildcard spot in the state finals. Usually, wildcard winners aren't announced until all six regional events are complete, but Septo's pitch was so strong that judges decided to give them a finalist slot.

Greater Rensselaer Chamber closes downtown office

The Greater Rensselaer Chamber of Commerce closed its downtown office after the building it occupied was sold to Truth Bible Church. The church purchased the building last fall but allowed the chamber to continue renting the building till spring. The chamber assures its members and the community that it will continue serving business owners.

Lisa Fronek, CEO of Generate Sales and Marketing in Crown Point, is no stranger to running a small business. Her family's business was the Lake County Greenhouse from 1913-2004. Now she is expanding her own business with “The Shop” showroom, an expanded warehouse that with feature Generate Sales and Marketing‘s products and offer clients a space to consider the possibilities. “I grew up behind the counter of our family business right down the road,” said Fronek in a press release.

The Indiana Chamber of Commerce included seven North Central Indiana businesses on its 2025 Best Places to Work in Indiana list. The list of 150 companies is the largest group in the 20 years of the rankings. Companies were ranked in five size categories. Rankings will be announced at an April 30 dinner at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis. “We all recognize that currently there is intense competition for talent.
