OGEMA, Wis. (WSAW) - The Price County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help locating a man who hasn’t been seen since April 17. Jesse Yanske was last seen in the Westboro area of Taylor County on April 17. He was last seen wearing a black zip-up hoodie, black joggers, and black and white shoes. He was reported missing on April 19. Yanske’s mother, Laurie, tells NewsChannel 7 he is 6 feet 3 inches with brown hair and brown eyes.

Iola man killed in weekend crash in Marathon County

ELAND, Wis. (WSAW) - Authorities have released the name of a man killed Saturday in a traffic crash near Eland. The crash happened Saturday around 9 am on County Road N east of County Road Y in the town of Norrie. That location is northwest of Eland, and west of Hatley. The driver and sole occupant has been identified as James Michael Kemp, 48 of Iola. He died at the scene. The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Birnamwood Fire and EMS and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Work on Highway 13 begins Tuesday in Price County

PHILLIPS, Wis. (WSAW) - Work will begin Tuesday to repair potholes on State Highway 13 in Price County. The Price County Highway Department will make repairs from the Taylor County line to State Highway 86 in the Town of Ogema. State Highway 13 will be limited to one lane of traffic in the work zone from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The work is expected to take four days, weather permitting. DEERBROOK, Wis. (WSAW) - Authorities have released new details about a fatal crash that happened Friday morning. Investigators said the crash happened around 9:30 a.m. on County Highway C and Rangeline Road in the town of Vilas. The location is northwest of Antigo and east of Held’s Bar in Deerbrook. Authorities said an eastbound vehicle driven by Matthew Johnson, 40, of Washington state, collided with a westbound vehicle driven by Victoria Reetz, 56.
Public hearing set Wednesday for Bradyn’s Law to combat sextortion

MADISON, Wis. (WSAW) - The Wisconsin Assembly Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety will hold a public hearing Wednesday to discuss Assembly Bill 201, more commonly known as Bradyn’s Law. The bill would create new penalties for the crime of sextortion. ‘Bradyn’s Law’ is named in honor of 15-year-old Bradyn Bohn, who died by suicide after becoming a victim of sextortion. In Wisconsin, sextortion is not a specific crime.
One of the state’s largest elk was illegally shot, DNR seeks public information

BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WSAW) - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources needs the public’s help to gather information on the illegal killing of a bull elk in Jackson County. DNR staff received and responded to a report of a dead elk on the morning of Tuesday, March 18. The elk was located off East Snow Creek Road and on private property north of the city of Black River Falls where department staff were conducting elk capture efforts to radio-collar and relocate a small group of elk.
St. Germain man charged with sister’s murder to return to court

EAGLE RIVER, Wis. (WSAW) - A 56-year-old man charged with stabbing and killing his sister is scheduled to enter a plea to his charges Monday morning. James Johnson is charged with first-degree intentional homicide. He remains in the Vilas County Jail on $1 million bond. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. in Vilas County Circuit Court. According to court documents, around 10:30 p.m. on March 21 a woman called 911 to report finding her sister outside with multiple stab wounds.
Trial date set for Amherst property owner charged with harboring felon during standoff

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) - A three-day trial is scheduled for the 61-year-old Amherst man charged with harboring a felon following a two-day stand-off at his home last July. Ed Deyo was one of five people arrested at a home on Mill Street in Amherst on July 25. Initially, all five faced charges of harboring a fugitive. However, charges have been dismissed for four people. Only the criminal case for Deyo has moved forward. Authorities made the arrests while attempting to locate Jeffery Miller, 32.
Former Packers, Badgers to announce selections at NFL Draft

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WSAW) - The NFL has released the names of former and active players scheduled to make selections in Rounds 2 and 3 of this year’s NFL Draft in Green Bay. Many former Green Bay Packers and former Wisconsin Badgers are on the list. Green Bay is, of course, the host city this year. The first round of the draft is April 24. Round 2-3 are April 25, the final rounds 4-7 are April 26.
